‘I am influenced by a broad range of visual imagery including artists such as John Burningham, Jackie Morris, Shaun Tan and Loren Long, and more recently Donald Hamilton Fraser, David Hughes, and David Gentleman.

I am an experienced painter with a special interest in portraying animal characters especially for children’s stories. I have more recently expanded my portfolio to demonstrate a variety of skills and to produce a more graphic look suited for editorial or logo work.’

My book “HARVEY HEADS WEST”, about an adventure seeking aardvark, was awarded a Highly Commended Prize by Macmillan Publishers in 2005. Look out for the little round character Arthur in my new work.

Diane Young is a freelance illustrator living in The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, UK. She attained a degree in Illustration in 2005 at the University of the West of England Bristol UK. She is an experienced painter, who also enjoys mixed media, and has many technical skills including photoshop. Having realised the benefit of having her own website as an illustrator, she also offers a website design service.
